At 5.5 months we began introducing solids to baby girl. First we started with organic rice cereal mixed with breast milk. Baby girl couldn't get enough of it from the start! She is constantly wanting to grab the spoon and feed herself and leaning towards any food she sees.
They say babies may lose weight or slow growth once solids are introduced but my girl grew more at a1.5 pound per month these past two months. She weight last week 15lbs 3 ounces and is 26.75 inches long.
The first night after having cereal she slept 5.5 hours straight! I was in heaven! The next night she slept 4.5 hours straight - not bad! Then back to her usual 2.5/3.5 hour intervals:$. Oh wel.
I started her on mashed avocado and then chicken in a mesh spoon thing. She liked both but really didn't eat much. Then we went onto green beans, peas, prunes, butternut squash, sweet potatoe, carrots, pears, banana, and then apple. She made a face the first time she tried all these but not apple! When I mixed avocado with banana she did not like that!
We are now at almost 7 months and starting to mix things she has tried. I have a recipe book on blender baby food and bought this kit to make those cute transportable squeeze packs from scratch. My plan is to do that this weekend. A lot cheaper and healthier than buying pre made! I also have the boon spoon (thanks mom!) so that will be great when feeding at home or on the go too!
Anyone have favourite baby food recipes?
Oh and the photo above is Julianne today. She is getting so strong and fast at grabbing the spoon while also being distracted by the dogs! So hence she needed a bath tonight!
