And I am excited that my sweet Julianne has a new baby girl cousin to grow up with - Welcome Kathryn Elizabeth Kinney! I am not 100% sure of why her parents chose Kate as her nickname but I must say - I think its a great choice! I am so excited that their family expanded by two more feet and a heart to love and a girl none the less (I know they were secretly wanting a girl to join forces with their main man Wyatt).
But this leads me to my main point of today's blog - love and family. I must agree that having a child does change your perspective on things and definitely your priorities. However, you cannot forget about your loved one that helped you create that little human!
I have been one of those new moms whose world has revolved around the wee one for the first few months of her life. Chad and I did go out on dates but always with Julianne in tow. As she approaches 6 months old I know that I need to make time for just Chad and I, as well as time for just me! Because although she is important, so is personal and relationship love and attention. I think it will be easier now too that my milk has been established and she is eating on a more regular schedule (every 3-4 hours).
So this past week I went on an excursion by myself for just me. I was gone 2-8 pm (6 hours) and it was nice to shop for me (even though I ended up buying a new breast pump as I wasn't happy with my ameda - I bought the freestyle madera and am amazed at how my milk is double each session!). I also enjoyed indian appetizers and networking with professionals at our IAP2 AGM. However, this one outing was memorable not only for its length, but also that A) Julianne and Daddy did fine on their own, and B) Julianne crawled for the first time and I missed it!
Now you might be thinking oh no! Thats terrible! Although I am sad I missed it I knew that when you leave things might happen and that is a part of life. I am glad that Chad got his "first" as I have certainly witnessed a lot of Julianne's first (flight, word, taste of avocado, etc). And although she hasn't done it since Monday Chad video taped it so I could see and share with our family!
So I have a few ideas for dates to do with Chad and also on my own but if you have any recommendations I am all ears. I am thinking Thermea spa during a weekday (so she can go to daycare or our friends house), out for dinner, we have our Jets game on March 17 for our anniversary, etc. But I am sure there are some ideas that aren't so splashy!
