Where does time go? Really. Caroline is 8 months now and Julianne is 28 months. When I looked back at my memories it seems like just yesterday we were celebrating our love at an ugly Christmas sweater party as newly weds. Now, we are sleep deprived parents, focused on instilling old and new family traditions during the holiday season.
When Chad and I got married, we knew we wanted two kids. We never found out what sex we were having as to us it didnt matter at the end of the day. When Caroline arrived, 12 days early, it was so different than when Julianne arrived. For starters, Chad didnt stay at the hospital with me overnight as Julianne was at home with our friend Carolyn. We were responsible for more than just ourselves.
Our summer seemed to fly by between work, visiting new places, heading to the zoo, enjoying the gorgeous weather, and organizing for a possible move. The most exciting trip would have been to Vermont for NAWEOA, where we enjoyed some amazing food and culture and got to know more families that live the daily live of Conservation.
Ive been growing my "side job" into a part time party gig. I am the bag lady and have had TONS of fun not only helping people truly find the most unique gifts, but also making their lives easier for day to day activities. The most fun I had is getting to know the stories and lives of my hostesses, customers and team mates, as well as re connect with some people I haven't seen or heard from in ages. I am most excited to save up for an outdoor pool for the family this summer with part of my earnings, as well as enjoy a week in the bahamas with Chad on an all expense paid vacation sans kids. As much as we love our girls, we know that we also need to love ourselves and each other and can use a break now and then!
August became a whirwind month for us as our house sold and we had 3 weeks to find a house, pack and move. This normally isnt a huge issue for me, being the perpetual gypsie, but 2100 square feet and two under two was a challenge. Thankfully our friends were amazing support, helping pack, move, hold babies, and entertaining toddlers, so we could move. We found a home on a street we looked at several times over the past two years, and are so happy to be so close to my work, the city, and still Chads main places for work. We are excited to get to know our neighbours and to make memories with our kids in our new digs.
This fall flew by. Between Chad's work taking him mostly to the west side of Manitoba, and my business taking off like crazy, I feel sorry for Caroline that I haven't blogged or photographed as frequently as Julianne. I guess thats the perils of being the second kid. I have prided myself in maintaining at least her baby book and will try over the next few months before heading back to work.
Caroline is 8 months now, with 5 teeth, 3 more on their way, she is crawling (still mostly army crawl but so close!) and babbling like crazy. She can mimic sounds I make and LOVEs songs. She loves, wait, DEMANDS, to eat whatever we are eating and loves her baths (good thing too as baby eating means bath required).
Julianne at 28 months has started getting her molars, is potty trained except bedtime, eats whatever we eat for the most part, and is getting more personality by the day. She is also into singing lately, green is the number one colour she gravitates towards (ask her what colour an orange is and she will say green), and she is getting better at her counting. I take ZERO credit for this as I have tried and tried and tried (we count the stairs as we take them and practice colours) but alas, daycare for the win. I love daycare. I feel a tad bit guilty that my child is in daycare while i am at home with Caroline, but seeing as i am pretty much working part time, and still only half organized after our move, I feel Julianne has more fun at daycare learning and playing with her friends than entertaining herself while baby sleeps and I work or re organize the cupboards into where things should actually go.
This year we decided to stay home for Christmas and Chad's mom is joining us. We so wish we could have had everyone over to our place as it doesnt seem like Christmas this year without all our parents present. I am looking forward to bringing the girls back to BC in February before heading back to work. We will be ending my maternity leave with our trip to Cuba.
I can only imagine how much fun 2017 will be for The Moirs, and the memories we will make int eh process.
