This past week julianne and I completed our Fifth round trip since her birth. Julianne continues to fly like a champ but things are changing! I remember her first flight as 2 months old where she slept almost the whole way both ways, feeding at take off and landing. This week at 7.5 months old she barely wanted to eat at all as she is so curious and wants to check everything and everyone out non stop. She fought going to sleep on each leg of the flights and was hard to cuddle for the takeoff and landing as recommended by the flight safety card.
We are so blessed to have the opportunity to go see family and friends but this last flights was bittersweet as it is my last on maternity leave. I don't know exactly when I will make it back out to see family again (estimate winter 2015) as I start my new job next week and have less holidays.
This last flight was also difficult as I have a chest cold and just wanted to curl up and sleep, especially with a 645 am flight! But thankfully j was pretty good and my husband loved his cuddle time with j so I could nap when we got back home.
Well off to sleep but some pointers flying with a 7.5 month old (pretty much same as always but some additions)
- water in sippy cup
- toys to entertain
- soother and lovey/doll
- blanket/nursing cover
- travel pillow (I use mine to support my arms while nursing)
- water bottle and snacks for mom (especially wth quick layovers)
- baby carrier and backpack for diaper bag
- plenty of diapers and wipes and change of clothe for baby
- solid food appropriate for baby.
